DIAGNOSIS The washer is likely stuck waiting for a condition to be met, most commonly because it's not filling or draining properly, or a temperature sensor is taking too long. Without digital error codes, it just silently times out.
FIX Listen carefully when it stops. Is there water in the tub? If it's stuck mid-fill, check your water supply valves and inlet screens (see the slow-fill fix). If it's full but not agitating, ensure the lid is firmly closed and latched. If it's stuck after washing and won't drain, check for a drain pump clog.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK A faulty component like the water level pressure switch or the motor control board can cause the machine to incorrectly think a step isn't complete and just pause indefinitely. These are trickier to diagnose without a multimeter.
HEADS UP Don't just keep restarting cycles. If it consistently stops at the same point, that's a major clue. For example, always stopping with water in the tub points directly to a drain issue. Write down what it's doing (or not doing) when it stops—it helps a ton if you need to call for service.
