DIAGNOSIS The washer cannot confirm the lid is securely closed. The lid lock mechanism or its sensor has failed, or the lid is not engaging the strike properly.
FIX Ensure the lid is fully closed. Listen for a distinct “click”. Inspect the small plastic strike on the underside of the lid for damage. Check the locking mechanism in the top-front rim of the cabinet for obstructions. Clean any debris with a dry cloth.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The lid lock assembly may have failed. Unplug the washer. Manually press the locking mechanism in the cabinet with a finger. It should move smoothly and spring back. If it is stuck or loose, the assembly requires replacement.
HEADS UP Do not attempt to bypass the lid lock. The washer will not spin or agitate without a confirmed lock for safety. Forcing the mechanism can damage the control board.
