Yeah, this one's common. You're probably wearing down the coupler by going straight to high speed.
The fix is to use the pulse function first. Remove the lid center cap and use the tamper to press the frozen chunks down toward the blade. Put the cap back on. Press and hold the pulse button, turning the dial from (O) to (P) in short bursts to break things up. Once the big chunks are gone, you can switch to a higher speed or a preset program.
If that didn't work: The loud noise might be from the coupler teeth coming off. This can happen if you push down on the lid or try to remove the jar while the blades are still spinning. Always let the blender come to a complete stop before removing anything.
Starting on low speed and ramping up over 1-2 minutes for hot liquids also helps prevent strain.
