The battery inside the lid is dead. It's sealed and non-replaceable.
- The pitcher itself still works perfectly. You just lose the electronic reminder.
- You must manually track filter usage. Replace a standard (white) filter every 40 gallons (about 2 months for an average family). Replace a LONGLAST (blue) filter every 120 gallons (about 6 months).
- Change it more or less often based on your actual water consumption.
To continue using the pitcher, just ignore the dead indicator. Install filters normally, lining up the groove with the ridge in the reservoir, and press firmly for a tight seal.
Remember to reset the indicator if you ever get a new pitcher lid that has a working battery.
