my canon pixma tr8620a printer won't connect to wifi, keeps saying error. what gives?

Most likely a signal or credential mismatch between your router and printer.

  1. Power cycle both devices. Turn off the printer and unplug your router for 30 seconds. Plug router back in, wait for it to fully boot, then power on the printer.
  2. Re-run the wireless setup from the printer's control panel. Ensure you select the correct 2.4GHz network (it doesn't support 5GHz-only networks). Enter the password exactly.

If that didn't work, the printer might be too far from the router. Move it closer, or check for interference from microwaves or other electronics.

Heads up: This printer requires Wi-Fi for its Alexa ink level alerts and most wireless functions. A wired USB connection is an alternative for direct printing from one computer.
