Diagnosis
The flashing Alarm (triangle with exclamation point) lamp on your Canon PIXMA TS4320 indicates a specific error condition requiring your attention. The exact problem is communicated through a flash count pattern, which repeats after a pause. Ignoring these flashes can lead to print quality issues or a complete printer stoppage.
How to Fix It
To diagnose, observe the Alarm lamp's flash sequence. Count how many times it flashes before a brief pause, then repeat.
- 2 Flashes: Standard print head clog. On the printer, press the Stop button for 5+ seconds until the Alarm lamp flashes, then release. This starts an automatic cleaning.
- 3 Flashes: Severe print head clog. From your computer, open Canon printer software, go to Maintenance, and select "Deep Cleaning." This uses more ink.
- 7 Flashes: Paper feed roller cleaning needed. Load a sheet of plain A4 paper, press the Stop button for 5+ seconds until the Alarm lamp flashes, then release.
- 8 Flashes: Printer interior (bottom plate) cleaning needed. Remove all paper, open the rear cover, and wipe the interior with a soft, dry cloth.
- 14 Flashes: Service error or usage report. Press the Stop button 5 times to print a usage report for troubleshooting.
If That Didn't Work
If cleaning doesn't resolve a 2- or 3-flash error, manually align the print head via the printer software's Maintenance tab. For persistent 7- or 8-flash errors, ensure you're using supported, unwrinkled paper and that no obstructions are inside. If the Alarm lamp flashes red (not orange) or displays a new pattern, a hardware error may require service.
