my dell u2722d monitor's dell display manager icon disappeared from the taskbar, how do i get it back?

DDM is likely not detecting your monitor or has a communication error. The software only works with Dell monitors and requires DDC/CI to be enabled.

  1. Check that the video cable is firmly connected to both your monitor and computer.
  2. Verify DDC/CI is enabled in your monitor's on-screen display menu under Display Info.
  3. Ensure you have the latest graphics driver from your GPU manufacturer (Intel, AMD, NVidia). Outdated drivers are a common cause of DDM failure.
  4. Remove any docking stations, cable extenders, or converters between the monitor and graphics input. Cheap adapters often don't support DDC/CI correctly.
  5. Restart your computer.

If that didn't work: DDM does not support certain configurations. It won't work with monitors from other brands, Dell models before 2013 or the D series, Nvidia G-Sync gaming monitors, virtual/wireless displays, or some older DP 1.2 monitors that require MST/DP 1.2 to be disabled in the OSD.

Heads up: If DDM isn't working, it should display a detailed error message below its icon in your system tray. You can also check for a newer version of the DDM application by right-clicking its icon.
