my dell u2722d monitor won't switch inputs automatically when i open different apps, is the auto mode broken?

You need to configure Auto Mode to assign specific Preset Modes to your applications.

  1. Open Dell Display Manager and go to the Auto Mode tab.
  2. Drag an application from your desktop or Start Menu into the current task list.
  3. Assign a Preset Mode (like Standard, Movie, Game) to that application. You can assign the same mode for all connected monitors or different modes per monitor.
  4. Ensure Auto Mode is enabled. DDM will then automatically switch to the assigned Preset Mode whenever that application becomes active.

If that didn't work: The feature requires DDC/CI communication. Verify DDC/CI is enabled in your monitor's menu (Menu > Others > DDC/CI > On) and that you have the latest graphics driver installed.

Heads up: Auto-restore for window positions is a separate function. To save and restore application window layouts when reconnecting your PC, right-click the DDM icon and use 'Save current window layout' and 'Restore saved window layout'.
