my dyson ball animal 2 vacuum won't turn on when i press the power button, what gives?

Check the power source first. Ensure the machine is plugged in. Unplug it, wait a minute, then plug it back in firmly. Press the power button on the right side of the handle. If it still doesn't start, a blockage may have triggered an automatic cut-out.

Fix: Unplug the machine and let it cool. Lay it on its back. Check for blockages in this order:

  1. Cleaner head: Press the red button on the bottom of the ball, slide the cleaner head off. Check for debris.
  2. Wand: Open the handle cap, slide the wand and hose out. Press the button on the hose end to release the wand. Look through it.
  3. Hose: Remove the bin by pressing the bin handle button. Press the tab on the hose base to detach it. Check the hose.
  4. Airways: Recline the machine, remove the outer ball cover. Remove the bin, lift the clear inspection panel in the bin recess. Remove any debris.
Reassemble fully, ensuring all parts click into place. Plug in and try the power button again.

If that didn't work: The filters may be wet or clogged. Remove both filters (Filter A from the bin handle, Filter B from the ball) and wash them in cold water only. Let them dry for at least 24 hours completely before reinstalling. A damp filter will damage the machine.

Heads up: Never use the vacuum with a damp filter or if the bin is filled above the MAX line. Both can cause performance loss or damage.
