Diagnosis
The filter light on your Dyson Pure Cool TP04 is triggered by a timer based on the total number of hours the machine has been operated. It indicates that the glass HEPA filter has reached its saturation point and can no longer efficiently trap microscopic particles, meaning the air quality in your room will begin to degrade if not replaced.
How to Fix It
To replace the filter and clear the alert, follow these steps:
- Power Down: Unplug the appliance from the mains electricity supply to ensure safety.
- Remove Shrouds: Locate the release buttons on both sides of the filter shrouds (the outer plastic casings). Slide these buttons down to unlock the shrouds from the base.
- Extract Filters: Pull the shrouds away from the machine. To remove the old filters from the shrouds, press the purple tabs inward to release the filter units.
- Dispose: Place the used glass HEPA filters in the bin. Note that these are non-washable and non-recyclable.
- Install New Filters: Slide the new glass HEPA filters into the shrouds, pressing firmly until they click securely into place.
- Reassemble: Align the shrouds with the base of the machine and push them upward until they click back into position.
- Reset the Light: Once the machine is plugged back in, press and hold the filter reset button (or the power button, depending on your specific remote/display version) for 5 seconds until the light disappears.
If That Didn't Work
If the light remains on after the reset process, ensure the shrouds are fully seated; a loose shroud can sometimes prevent the sensor from registering a successful replacement. If the light persists, perform a hard reset by unplugging the unit for 60 seconds and then restarting the reset sequence.
Heads Up
Never attempt to wash or vacuum the glass HEPA filters. Doing so will damage the delicate glass fibers, creating gaps in the filtration media that allow pollutants to pass through into your home.
