The ink level sensors aren't recognizing the new ink. This happens if the bottles weren't seated properly or the printer needs a reset.
- Turn the printer on. Open the ink tank cover.
- Visually confirm all four tanks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) are filled to the indicated line. The 522 series bottles hold 65 mL each.
- If any tank is low, add more ink from the correct bottle. The EcoFit bottles are designed for easy, worry-free filling.
- Close the cover. The printer should initiate a brief ink charging process. Wait for it to complete.
If that didn't work: Part of the ink from the initial setup bottles is used for priming the system. If you used the included bottles, the printer's estimated yield may be off. The sensor estimates based on usage; it may just need to print a few pages to recalibrate. Print a nozzle check pattern from the maintenance settings.
Heads up: The printer must have all four ink colors available to print, even for black-and-white documents. All colors are used for maintenance. For accurate ink level monitoring and to maintain your 2-year limited warranty, Epson strongly recommends using only genuine Epson 522 series ink bottles.
