DIAGNOSIS The machine is signaling a cleaning cycle is required. The Opal 2.0 will lock out ice production and flash the red light and cleaning button after a set number of cycles.
FIX Run a full cleaning cycle. Press and hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds to start the cycle. The machine will run for about 25 minutes. You must use the official GE cleaning solution or a citric acid-based cleaner. Do not use vinegar. After the cycle, the lights will return to normal.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK After cleaning, if the red light persists, perform a hard reset. Unplug the machine. Wait 2 full minutes. Plug it back in. This clears the cycle counter and resets the control board.
HEADS UP The machine tracks cycles, not calendar time. Heavy use triggers the clean alert faster. Ignoring it will permanently disable ice making until the cycle is completed.
