DIAGNOSIS The water temperature entering the freezing cylinder is too high. The Opal 2.0 requires incoming water between 50°F and 90°F to form proper hard nuggets.

FIX Check your water source. If using bottled water, ensure it has been refrigerated. If plumbed, the water line may be running through a warm space. Let the machine run for 3-4 cycles to allow the internal reservoir water to cool to ambient temperature. Soft ice on the first few cycles is normal.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The ambient room temperature is critical. The unit operates best between 50°F and 90°F. If the room is above 80°F, ice quality degrades. Move the unit to a cooler location, away from ovens or direct sunlight.

HEADS UP Water quality affects hardness. Highly filtered or distilled water can produce softer ice. GE recommends using standard drinking water for optimal nugget structure.
