my greenworks 40v lawn mower won't start, just makes a clicking sound when i pull the handle, what's wrong?

— asked by Mike

The battery pack is not making proper contact or is discharged. The safety handle must be fully engaged.

  1. Press the battery release button and remove the battery pack.
  2. Reinstall the battery pack firmly until it clicks into place.
  3. Ensure the handle is unfolded and locked into the operating position.
  4. Fully depress the safety handle against the main handle before pulling the start lever.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The battery is likely completely discharged. Charge it using the Greenworks 40V charger. Do not use the mower if the battery pack is damaged.

HEADS UP: Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or clearing a blockage.
