my greenworks cordless mower just stopped in the middle of mowing and won't restart, battery light is still on.

Likely an overload or thermal protection trigger. The motor shut down to protect itself.

1. Remove the battery to fully reset the mower's system.
2. Check for a clogged deck. Tall, wet grass or a blockage can overload the motor. Clear any debris.
3. Let the mower sit for 15-20 minutes to cool down if you were mowing aggressively or in very thick grass.
4. Reinsert the battery and try again, starting with a higher cutting height.

If That Didn't Work

: The battery might be faulty or have a damaged cell causing a voltage drop under load. Try a different, known-good Greenworks 40V battery if you have one.

Heads Up

: Mow more frequently so you're never cutting off more than one-third of the grass blade height. This prevents overloads and gives a healthier lawn.
