Yeah, this one's common. It's an auto-shutoff feature, but it's usually triggered by a simple sensor issue.
The brewer is designed to shut off automatically if it doesn't detect a cup. Check that there's a cup on the drip tray plate. That's the flat part the cup sits on, inside the drip tray assembly.
If that didn't work: The cup sensor won't "read" a clear glass mug. The "Place Mug" light will just keep flashing. Use a ceramic or opaque cup instead.
Heads up: The drip tray assembly can be removed for cleaning—just slide it toward you, keeping it level to avoid spills. Don't put the drip tray or drip tray plate in the dishwasher. Clean them with a damp, soapy cloth.
