Diagnosis
The "CL" code on your LG WM4000HWA display specifically indicates the Child Lock feature is active. This is a safety function that locks the control panel to prevent accidental cycle changes or starts, often activated unintentionally by pressing and holding certain buttons for a few seconds. When active, it will prevent any cycle from beginning.
How to Fix It
To deactivate the Child Lock:
- Locate the Spin Speed and Soil Level buttons on the control panel.
- Press and hold both buttons down simultaneously for approximately 3 seconds.
- You will see the "CL" icon disappear from the display, confirming the washer is unlocked.
- You can now select your desired cycle and press Start normally.
If That Didn't Work
If the button combination fails to clear the code, perform a full power reset:
- Unplug the washer from the electrical wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds to ensure the control board fully powers down and resets.
- Firmly plug the washer back into the outlet.
- The display should initialize normally without the "CL" code. If it persists, check for any stuck or damaged buttons on the control panel that might be continuously sending a lock signal.
Heads Up
The Child Lock on this model can engage very easily if you lean on or wipe the control panel near those specific buttons. Be mindful when cleaning around the display to avoid accidentally triggering it again.
