my ninja foodi air fryer baskets are stuck and really hard to pull out, is this normal?

— asked by Chloe

It happens, especially when new or if food debris gets in the tracks. It's not supposed to be a struggle, but it can be tight.

First, make sure the unit is off, unplugged, and completely cool. Never force it while hot.

  1. Grip the basket handle firmly. There's a release mechanism when you pull—try a firm, steady pull straight out.
  2. If it's stuck, remove the crisper plate and food from the *other* basket to lighten the unit, then try again.
  3. Inspect the rails inside the main unit and the grooves on the baskets for any visible food grease or debris. Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.
  4. Apply a tiny, tiny amount of cooking oil to a paper towel and wipe it on the basket's sliding rails. Do not get oil on the control panel or heating elements.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Check that the basket is fully unlocked. Some models have a button or latch. Ensure it's properly closed before trying to remove it. If it's deformed from overfilling or impact, you may need a replacement basket from Ninja.
