Diagnosis
You didn't necessarily do anything wrong, but you used the part in a way it wasn't designed for. The clear plastic Date-Dial Storage Cups that come with the NutriBullet Baby Complete System are made for short-term refrigeration, not for freezing. The plastic is not formulated to withstand the extreme contraction and expansion caused by freezing liquids, which is why it cracked.
How to Fix It
First, stop using the cracked cup and dispose of it, as cracks can harbor bacteria. To freeze your baby's purees safely:
- Always blend and portion the food using the NutriBullet blade and cup as intended.
- Immediately transfer the puree into a dedicated, BPA-free freezer-safe container or silicone freezing tray. Do not use the Date-Dial Cups for this step.
- Once the food is frozen solid, you can pop out the portions and store them in a sealed freezer bag.
- When you need to serve, thaw a portion in the refrigerator or using your NutriBullet's warming function, and only then use a separate, intact Date-Dial Cup for short-term fridge storage if needed.
If That Didn't Work
If you need a replacement Date-Dial Cup for refrigeration, contact NutriBullet customer support. They may offer a solution for purchasing individual parts. For the future, remember to never fill any blending or storage cup more than two-thirds full with liquid or puree before sealing, whether for blending, refrigeration, or freezing, to prevent pressure-related damage.
Heads Up
Never microwave the Date-Dial Cups or any NutriBullet plastic parts, as this can also cause warping or cracking. Use the system's warming function or transfer food to a microwave-safe dish for reheating.
