my ring base station just keeps flashing blue and won’t connect to the app, i’ve tried everything

— asked by Morgan

Quick answer: The base station is stuck in setup mode because it can’t establish a stable Wi-Fi connection to your router.

Diagnosis

The base station is stuck in setup mode because it can’t establish a stable Wi-Fi connection to your router.

How to Fix It

Power cycle your router and the base station. Unplug your router for 30 seconds. While it’s booting back up, unplug the base station power, then press and hold the reset button on the back for 15 seconds. Plug the base station back in, wait for the solid white light, then re-run setup in the Ring app. Ensure you’re on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.

IF THAT DIDN’T WORK Your router’s firewall or security settings (like AP isolation) might be blocking the connection. Temporarily disable advanced security features like ‘AP Isolation’ or ‘Client Isolation’ in your router settings, complete setup, then re-enable them.

Heads Up

The base station needs a constant, stable internet connection. If it goes offline, your sensors won’t trigger alarms and all events route through cellular backup, which can have a delay.
