ring app says my base station is offline but the light is solid white, what’s going on?

— asked by Casey

Quick answer: The base station has a local connection (solid white light) but has lost its connection to the Ring cloud servers. This is usually a temporary internet or Ring service issue.

Diagnosis

The base station has a local connection (solid white light) but has lost its connection to the Ring cloud servers. This is usually a temporary internet or Ring service issue.

How to Fix It

Check your own internet first. If it’s working, the problem is likely on Ring’s end. Go to status.ring.com in your browser to see if there’s a reported service outage. If so, wait it out—the system will reconnect automatically.

IF THAT DIDN’T WORK Restart your base station. Unplug its power and Ethernet cable (if used) for 30 seconds, then plug back in. Wait 2 minutes for it to fully reboot and reconnect.

Heads Up

When the base station shows offline in the app, your alarm’s arming/disarming and alerts will be delayed because it switches to slower cellular backup. Your sensors are still active, but notifications won’t be instant.
