Diagnosis
This is normal. The internal siren on the 2nd Gen base station is primarily a local deterrent, not a whole-house alarm. It’s about 104 dB measured at 1 foot, but sound drops off sharply.
How to Fix It
For whole-house coverage, you must add optional Ring Alarm Sirens. These plug into outlets and will all sound when the alarm triggers. You can add multiple and manage them as a single device group in the app.
IF THAT DIDN’T WORK Ensure the base station isn’t tucked inside a cabinet or buried under objects, as this will muffle the sound. Place it on an open shelf in a central location.
Heads Up
The system is designed so the primary alert is a push notification and monitoring center call. The physical siren is secondary, which is why it’s not deafeningly loud.
