Diagnosis
The motion sensor is most likely detecting rapid temperature changes (like an HVAC vent) or small pets within its 30-foot range.
How to Fix It
First, adjust the sensor’s placement. Mount it in a corner, 7-8 feet high, angled downward. Ensure it’s not facing a window with direct sunlight, a heating vent, a fireplace, or a fan. In the Ring app, go to the device settings and enable ‘Pet Mode’ if you have cats or small dogs.
IF THAT DIDN’T WORK The sensor lens might be dirty, causing false reflections. Gently wipe the curved lens with a microfiber cloth. Also, check for insects or spider webs inside the sensor housing.
Heads Up
The motion sensor has a 30-second cool-down period after detecting motion. You won’t get a second alert during that time, even if there’s more movement.
