my shark navigator lift away pro brushroll just stopped spinning on my carpet. help?

— asked by Alex

This is usually a simple fix. First, check that the brushroll isn't jammed.

  1. Unplug the vacuum and turn it over.
  2. Manually try to turn the brushroll. If it doesn't move freely, you've got a clog.
  3. Use scissors to carefully cut and remove any hair, string, or fibers wound around the ends of the brushroll. Pull out any debris caught in the suction path.
  4. Once it spins freely by hand, plug it back in and test it on the floor setting.

If that didn't work: Make sure you're using the correct setting. The brushroll only spins when the vacuum is in the 'Carpet' mode, not the 'Hard Floor' or 'Bare Floor' setting. There's usually a lever or button on the foot of the vacuum to switch between modes.

Heads up: Regularly clearing the brushroll prevents motor strain and keeps your carpets clean.
