If the sound is a rhythmic "clicking" or "scraping," it is almost certainly the fan blade striking a piece of debris, a loose internal wire, or a warped plastic shroud. If the noise is a deep, vibrating buzz that resonates through your countertop, the issue is likely the compressor's vibration dampeners. Over time, or due to rough shipping, the rubber mounts that isolate the compressor from the chassis can shift or compress, causing the metal compressor housing to make direct contact with the internal frame. This creates a "harmonic buzz" that amplifies through the countertop. You can confirm this by placing your hand firmly on the side of the unit; if the noise dampens significantly when pressure is applied, it is a vibration issue. If the noise remains a high-pitched grind regardless of pressure, it is a fan obstruction.

How to Fix It

To resolve fan obstructions and vibration issues, follow these precise steps:

1. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and move the unit to a well-lit area. Wait 10 minutes to allow the compressor to cool down to avoid burns.
2. Position the unit so the rear ventilation grille is facing you. Use a high-lumen flashlight to peer through the slats. Look specifically for small pieces of clear plastic packaging or cardboard fragments that may have been sucked into the intake during the first few uses.
