Diagnosis
The leaking occurring at the base of your Vitamix ONE Compact Blender is almost certainly caused by a failure in the blade assembly's internal bearing seal. Unlike larger Vitamix models with separate gaskets, the ONE uses a sealed bearing unit integrated into the container base. When the rubberized seal degrades or develops a micro-tear, liquid bypasses the seal and drips directly from the bottom of the container onto the motor base. This failure typically occurs due to "seal fatigue" from high-friction blending or the introduction of abrasive particulates (like small seeds or crystalline sugars) that score the rotating shaft. You can confirm this by blending a small amount of water for 30 seconds and then inspecting the underside of the container; if water is weeping from the center point where the blade shaft meets the plastic housing, the internal seal is compromised. This is a mechanical failure of the seal's integrity and cannot be fixed by tightening any external components.
How to Fix It
Because the blade assembly in the Vitamix ONE is factory-sealed and permanently bonded to the container housing, the assembly cannot be disassembled or rebuilt. The only permanent solution is to replace the entire container assembly.
- Unplug the blender from the wall outlet and remove the leaking container from the motor base.
- Thoroughly clean and dry the top of the motor base using a damp cloth and mild soap to ensure no liquid has seeped into the motor housing, which could cause a short circuit.
- Procure a genuine Vitamix ONE Replacement Container. Ensure the part matches the "Compact" series specifications to ensure the drive coupling aligns perfectly with the motor pin.
- Inspect the new container's base for any shipping cracks before installation.
- Place the new container onto the motor base, ensuring it clicks or seats firmly into place.
- Run a "test blend" with only water for 15 seconds to verify that the seal is airtight and no leakage occurs at the base.
If That Didn't Work
- Check the Drive Coupling Alignment: If a new container still shows moisture at the base, inspect the motor base drive pin. If the pin is bent or worn, it can create an uneven rotation (wobble) that puts lateral pressure on the new seal, causing it to leak prematurely. If the pin is not perfectly vertical, the motor base needs service.
- Inspect for Stress Fractures: Examine the plastic housing of the container using a bright flashlight. Sometimes a hairline crack in the plastic near the base—caused by dropping the container—can mimic a seal leak. Use a food-safe dye in the water to pinpoint exactly where the liquid is escaping.
- Verify Lid Pressure: While the leak is at the bottom, an improperly sealed lid can create abnormal internal pressure during high-speed blending. Ensure the lid is pressed down firmly and the gasket is seated flush. If the lid isn't sealed, air pockets can force liquid downward toward the bearing seal with more force than intended.
- Check for Overheating: If the leak only happens after long blending cycles, the friction may be heating the seal to the point of expansion and failure. Reduce blending time to under 60 seconds for thick mixtures to prevent heat-induced seal degradation.

- Avoid blending extremely hard, dry ingredients (like ice cubes without liquid) for extended periods, as this increases the axial load on the bearing seal and accelerates wear.
- Never use abrasive scouring pads to clean the underside of the container, as scratching the plastic near the seal can create entry points for bacteria and moisture.
- Always ensure the container is fully seated on the motor base before powering on; starting the blender while it is tilted can put uneven torque on the blade shaft, damaging the seal.
- If you notice a "burning rubber" smell accompanying the leak, stop immediately; this indicates the bearing has seized and could potentially damage the motor base.
