DIAGNOSIS That's almost certainly the sound of the internal relay switching. It's a small mechanical click. While it's a normal operation sound, if it's happening every few minutes when your system isn't actively turning on or off, it indicates short-cycling.
FIX The most common cause is the temperature differential (the "swing") being set too narrow. This makes the thermostat too sensitive. In the Wyze app, go to your thermostat's settings and look for "Temperature Differential" or "Heat/Cool Differential." Increase the setting. For heat, try changing it from 0.5°F to 1.0°F. This means the room temperature will have to drop a full degree before the heat kicks back on, preventing constant, minute adjustments and clicks.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the clicks are accompanied by the screen turning on or the system briefly activating, you might have a draft or a heat source right near the thermostat causing the sensed temperature to bounce up and down rapidly. Move any lamps, electronics, or close nearby curtains to stabilize the ambient temperature around the thermostat itself.
HEADS UP One or two distinct clicks when the system starts or stops is completely normal—that's the relay doing its job. It's the rapid, repeated clicking every few minutes that points to a settings or placement issue you need to solve.
