DIAGNOSIS The thermostat's internal sensor is being influenced by a local heat source or a draft, throwing off its reading. It's not broken, it's just in a bad spot.
FIX First, do a simple calibration test. Tape a reliable indoor thermometer (not your gut feeling) to the wall right next to the thermostat. Wait an hour for temperatures to stabilize. Compare the readings. If they're more than 2 degrees apart, you can manually calibrate. In the Wyze app, go to your thermostat's settings, find "Temperature Correction," and adjust it up or down to match your trusted thermometer.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Consider the thermostat's location. Is it on an exterior wall that gets cold? Is it near a vent, lamp, TV, or window that gets direct sun? That's the real problem. The best long-term fix is to relocate it to an interior wall in a frequently used room, away from drafts and electronics. You may need an HVAC pro to run the thermostat wires to the new location.
HEADS UP Don't rely on your phone's weather app or a thermometer in another room for calibration. They measure different things. You need a known-good thermometer in the same air mass as the thermostat for an accurate comparison.
