DIAGNOSIS This is an app connectivity bug, not a network outage. The app can't reach eero's cloud servers to fetch status, but your local internet is functioning. FIX Force-quit the eero app on your phone and reopen it. If that fails, restart your phone's WiFi and/or cellular data. The app needs an internet connection on your phone to talk to the cloud. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Log out of the app and log back in. This refreshes your authentication token which can get stuck. You won't lose any settings. HEADS UP If your network is truly working (devices have internet), ignore the app status. A full network restart (power cycling modem and all eeros) is only necessary if your devices also lose connectivity.

just got the eero pro 6e and my upload speeds are way slower than download, is that normal?

DIAGNOSIS This is often normal, especially on cable internet plans which are asymmetrical (slower upload). However, a huge discrepancy could indicate a setup issue. FIX First, test speed directly connected to your modem (bypass the eero) to establish your ISP baseline. Then, test wirelessly right next to your main gateway eero. If speeds are similar, the eero is not the bottleneck. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Disable all eero Labs features (like Optimize for Conferencing & Gaming) in the app temporarily and re-test. These can sometimes prioritize download traffic in a way that limits uploads during a test. HEADS UP WiFi 6E (6GHz) is great for download, but many client devices and even some eero satellite connections still use 5GHz for upload, which can be slower. Your upload speed is limited by the weakest link in the chain.

my device keeps connecting to the far away eero instead of the one right next to me, speeds are awful.

DIAGNOSIS Your device (phone, laptop) is clinging to the first eero it connected to. Client devices, not the eero network, usually decide which node to connect to. FIX Toggle your device's WiFi off and on. This forces it to find the strongest signal from scratch, which should now be the closest eero. Do this whenever you move to a new part of your home. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Enable "Client Steering" in the eero app (Settings > Network Settings > Wireless Radios). This encourages compatible devices to move to the optimal node and band, but it's not guaranteed for all devices. HEADS UP Some older or simpler devices (IoT gadgets, smart plugs) are terrible at roaming and will stubbornly stick to a weak signal. For these, you may need to temporarily move them closer to the preferred eero during setup.

eero app says my node has a 'poor connection' to the gateway but they're in the same room.

DIAGNOSIS Physical proximity doesn't guarantee a good signal. The issue is likely interference from other electronics or signal reflection/cancellation. FIX Move both nodes. Place them at least 3-5 feet apart (too close can be bad) and elevate them—on a shelf, not the floor. Ensure they're not right next to a microwave, baby monitor, large metal object, or dense brick/concrete wall. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The problem might be your main gateway's internet connection itself. Run a connectivity test on the gateway eero in the app. If that's poor, the satellites will inherit the problem. Focus on fixing the gateway's connection to your modem first. HEADS UP "Poor connection" can also be triggered during a temporary ISP outage or modem reboot. Check if your main eero has a solid white light before troubleshooting the satellites.

i can't get my eero pro 6e to connect via ethernet backhaul, it just defaults to wireless.

DIAGNOSIS The eero isn't detecting a stable Ethernet connection from the satellite node to the main gateway or switch, so it falls back to a wireless connection. FIX Check your physical connections in this order: 1) Use the cable that came with the eero or a known-good Cat5e/Cat6 cable. 2) Plug one end directly into a LAN port on the gateway eero or your switch, and the other directly into the WAN port on the satellite eero. 3) Restart both eeros after connecting the cable. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Your network might have a loop (more than one cable connecting two switches/eeros). Ensure there is only one Ethernet path from the satellite to the main gateway. Disconnect all other cables from the satellite except the one intended for backhaul. HEADS UP It can take up to 10 minutes for the eero app to update and show the "wired" connection icon. Be patient and don't unplug cables during this time.

why is my eero pro 6e so hot to the touch, is it going to catch fire?

Don't stack items on top of it, place it on a hard surface (not carpet or fabric), and keep at least a few inches of clearance on all sides, especially the top vent. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If it feels excessively hot (uncomfortable to hold), check for a software bug. A full power cycle (unplug for 30 seconds) can sometimes resolve a process that's causing the CPU to overwork. HEADS UP The warmth is a design trade-off for performance. It will not catch fire under normal operation. However, do not enclose it in a cabinet or bookcase as that can lead to thermal throttling and reduced speed.

In the eero app, temporarily disable the 6GHz band under Settings > Network Settings > Wireless Radios and see if stability improves on the 5GHz band. HEADS UP If you're using wireless backhaul, ensure all nodes are plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or surge protector, as some can cause power fluctuations that affect performance.

my new eero pro 6e keeps flashing a solid white light, won't connect in the app, what do i do?

DIAGNOSIS The eero is stuck in its boot/startup sequence and hasn't established a proper connection to the network or the app. This is common after a fresh power-on or reset. FIX Power cycle the problematic eero. Unplug its power adapter from the outlet for a full 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait 5-10 minutes for it to fully boot and try to connect in the app again. Do not press any buttons during this time. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Perform a soft reset. Hold the reset button on the bottom of the eero for 7 seconds until the LED flashes yellow, then release. This resets the node's network settings without deleting its data. You'll have to set it up as a new node in the app. HEADS UP A solid white light can also mean it's working normally but the app is having issues. Force-quit and restart your phone's eero app before assuming the hardware is faulty.
