If your devices are still browsing the web, the actual data plane is functioning perfectly; the issue lies entirely within the control plane.
This typically occurs when the eero app is unable to authenticate your session with the cloud servers or when there is a "stale" heartbeat signal. The app does not communicate directly with your router over the local network to determine status; instead, it asks eero's servers if they have heard from your gateway recently. If the cloud server misses a few check-ins due to a momentary API timeout or a local phone networking glitch, it reports the network as offline, even while the hardware continues to route traffic without interruption.
How to Fix It
To resolve this ghost notification and resync your app status, follow these precise steps to clear the cached session and force a new handshake:
- Completely terminate the eero app. Do not just swipe to the home screen; open your phone's app switcher (swipe up and hold or double-click the home button) and swipe the eero app away to kill the background process.
- Toggle your mobile device's connectivity. Swipe down to the Control Center (iOS) or Quick Settings (Android), disable WiFi, wait 5 seconds, and re-enable it. If you are using cellular data, toggle Airplane Mode on and off to reset the data session.
- Clear the app cache. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > eero > Storage > Clear Cache. On iOS, since there is no cache clear button, you must proceed to the next step if the app still shows offline.
- Relaunch the eero app. Once the home screen loads, pull down on the main dashboard to trigger a manual refresh of the network status.
- Verify the status. If the light remains solid white and the app now shows "Online," the cloud heartbeat has been restored.
If That Didn't Work
If the app continues to report an outage despite active internet access, try these advanced recovery methods:
- Perform a "Soft Reboot" via the hardware. Unplug the power cable from the back of the primary eero Pro 6E gateway (the one connected to your modem). Wait exactly 30 seconds to allow the capacitors to discharge fully, then plug it back in. - Check for a "Double NAT" conflict. If you have another router (like a Comcast or AT&T gateway) in front of your eero, the cloud heartbeat can sometimes be blocked by a firewall. Ensure your ISP modem is in "Bridge Mode" or that the eero is the only active DHCP server on the network.
- Update the App Store/Play Store. Check for a pending update for the eero app. Version mismatches between the cloud API and the mobile client frequently cause incorrect status reporting.

- Avoid performing a "Hard Reset" (holding the reset button on the back) unless you are prepared to set up your entire mesh network and SSID from scratch. A hard reset is not necessary for app sync issues.
- If you see a blinking blue light, that is a setup mode indicator; if you see a blinking red light, that is a genuine internet outage. Solid white is always the goal.
- Ensure your phone is not using a restrictive VPN or Ad-Blocker (like NextDNS or Lockdown) when accessing the eero app, as these can block the specific telemetry ports eero uses to report status.
- Keep your Pro 6E units in open spaces. While the app bug is software-based, overheating caused by placing nodes in enclosed cabinets can lead to intermittent cloud disconnects.
