printer says 'replace maintenance box' but it's not even half full, can i reset it or do i really need a new one?

How to Fix It

While the WF-7840 is designed to lock the printer until a new chip is detected, you can attempt a soft reset or a chip replacement to bypass the error. Since the printer will not allow you to print while this error is active, follow these steps to resolve the lockout:

1. Power down the printer completely and unplug the power cable from the wall outlet for 60 seconds to clear the volatile memory.
2. Open the rear access cover where the maintenance box is located.
3. Remove the current maintenance box by sliding the release lever and pulling the unit straight out.
