shark navigator lift away vacuum hose keeps detaching from the canister part, it won't stay locked

— asked by David

Diagnosis: The locking mechanism between the hose and the lift-away canister is not fully engaged or is obstructed.

Fix:

  • Unplug the vacuum.
  • Detach the hose completely from the canister.
  • Inspect the connection points on both the hose end and the canister port for cracks, debris, or damage.
  • Reattach firmly, listening for a distinct click or feeling it lock into place.
  • Give it a gentle tug to confirm it's secure.

If that didn't work, the plastic latch or release button on the hose connector may be broken. You will need to order a replacement hose part. The part numbers are in the user's manual.

Heads up: Do not force the connection. Misalignment can break the plastic tabs.
