DIAGNOSIS The fuel system is not receiving adequate propane vapor pressure or the selector valve is not fully engaged. The cause is usually an empty tank, a closed valve, or an unsealed connection.
FIX Perform this pressure check protocol. One, ensure the propane tank valve is fully open. Two, verify all quick-connect fittings between the regulator hose and the generator are fully seated and audibly 'clicked'. Three, on the generator's control panel, move the fuel selector knob fully to the 'Propane' position and hold it there for 5 seconds before attempting to start. Four, use the choke as if starting on cold gasoline.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The demand regulator mounted on the generator may have a failed diaphragm or be blocked by debris from the tank. The internal solenoid valve that opens for propane flow may also have failed. These components require professional service.
HEADS UP Propane tanks lose pressure in very cold weather (below 20°F / -7°C). The generator may start but then stall under load. Keep the tank as warm as possible, or use a larger tank which has more surface area to vaporize fuel.
