DIAGNOSIS The program is aborting because it detects the contents are too thick or viscous to circulate, risking a motor overload.
FIX The Soup program requires a certain fluidity. Start with more liquid base (broth, water) than you think—at least 4 cups. Chop ingredients small. Use the 'Pulse' function a few times at the start to break things down before selecting the 'Soup' program.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If it consistently fails even with a very liquid soup, the temperature sensor in the base (which monitors motor load as a proxy for heating) might be faulty.
HEADS UP The 'Soup' program doesn't have a heating element. It heats by friction. If the blades can't move freely, it can't generate heat and will shut off.
