DIAGNOSIS The touchpad on the user interface (UI) board has failed or the connection to the main control board is corrupted. This is a known issue with moisture ingress or component fatigue.
FIX Perform a control reset. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes. Plug it back in. If the problem persists, the user interface assembly (part #WPW10706377) needs replacement. This is the entire front panel with buttons and display.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK A failed main control board can also cause communication loss with the UI. If replacing the UI doesn't work, the main board is the next suspect.
HEADS UP Spilling liquid directly onto the control panel can cause this failure. Always use a dry cloth to clean the controls, never spray cleaner directly on them.
