Because this is a compact unit with a lightweight frame, the tolerances are tight; even a 2-3 millimeter shift in the hinge alignment will prevent the magnetic gasket from seating flush against the cabinet. You can confirm this is a hinge alignment issue rather than a warped cabinet by attempting to gently lift the door by the handle while pushing it closed. If the door seals perfectly when you lift it manually, the issue is mechanical sag in the hinge assembly. If the door still sticks out despite being lifted, the problem is likely a deformed gasket or an obstruction in the door bin, but in 90% of BCRK25V cases, it is a looseness in the top hinge bracket.
How to Fix It
To realign the door and ensure a flush seal, follow these steps precisely:
- Clear all items from the door shelves and the top interior shelf to reduce tension on the hinge and provide clear access to the top of the unit.
- Open the door to a 90-degree angle. Locate the plastic hinge cover cap on the top left or right edge (depending on your model's orientation). Use a small flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the plastic cap upward. Be careful not to gouge the paint.
- Once the cap is removed, you will see the hinge bracket secured by two Phillips-head screws. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen these screws slightly—do not remove them entirely, just enough to allow the bracket to move.
- While the screws are loose, have a second person lift the door slightly upward and push the top edge of the door firmly toward the refrigerator body. This resets the door's vertical alignment.
- While holding the door in this "flush" position, tighten the screws firmly. Ensure you tighten them in a crisscross pattern to distribute the pressure evenly across the bracket.
- Replace the plastic hinge cap and close the door. Check that the magnetic gasket makes a continuous seal from top to bottom.
If That Didn't Work
- Check for Gasket Deformation: If the hinge is tight but the top corner still protrudes, the rubber gasket may have folded inward or become warped. Use a hairdryer on a low-heat setting to gently warm the rubber gasket at the top corner. While the rubber is warm and pliable, pull it outward with your fingers to reshape it so it meets the cabinet frame.
- Inspect Door Bin Loading: Check if the top door bin is overloaded with heavy condiments or tall bottles. If a bottle is leaning forward, it can put pressure on the inner liner, pushing the door outward at the top. Redistribute weight to the bottom bin.
- Level the Chassis: If the entire refrigerator is leaning forward, the door will naturally swing open or fail to seat. Use a bubble level on top of the unit. If it's uneven, rotate the adjustable leveling feet at the bottom front corners clockwise to raise the front of the unit slightly. A slight backward tilt helps the door close flush via gravity.
- Lubricate the Hinge Pin: If the door feels "springy" and pops back out, the hinge pin may be dry or contaminated. Apply a small amount of food-grade silicone grease to the hinge pin to ensure the door rotates smoothly without binding.

- Avoid storing heavy gallon-sized jugs in the upper door bins; the BCRK25V is designed for lighter items in the top section to prevent hinge fatigue.
- Never use a knife to pry off the hinge cap, as this will permanently scar the powder-coated finish and can lead to rust.
- Periodically wipe the magnetic gasket with warm, soapy water. Dirt buildup on the seal can create "dead spots" where the magnet fails to grip, mimicking the appearance of a misaligned door.
- If you notice the screws stripping during the fix, replace them with slightly wider gauge stainless steel screws of the same length to ensure a tighter grip on the frame.
