Quick answer: Reduced heat output. The most likely cause is a failing heating element (nichrome coil) or a faulty thermistor not regulating correctly.

Diagnosis

Reduced heat output. The most likely cause is a failing heating element (nichrome coil) or a faulty thermistor not regulating correctly.

How to Fix It

Unplug and disassemble the dryer to access the heater chamber. Visually inspect the coiled heating element for any dark, burnt-out sections or breaks. Check the two ceramic posts where the coil attaches for secure connections and no carbon tracking.

If That Didn't Work

Test the thermistor (a small, disc-shaped sensor near the coil) with a multimeter. Resistance should change with temperature. A dead thermistor tells the board the unit is hot and throttles power incorrectly. Replace it.

Heads Up

A weak heater can draw abnormal current and stress the main board. Do not continue using it in this state. It can lead to a complete board failure.
