the eco mode light on my wen generator is blinking and it's running rough. what does that mean?

— asked by David

A blinking Eco-Mode light typically indicates an overload condition or a problem with the inverter system sensing the load.

  1. Turn off Eco-Mode. Set the Eco-Mode switch to OFF.
  2. Unplug all devices from the generator.
  3. Restart the generator. Let it run for a minute without any load.
  4. Reconnect devices one at a time, ensuring the total wattage does not exceed 1600 running watts.

If the light continues to blink with no load:

  • Check the grounding. Failure to properly ground the generator can cause electrical issues. Ground it by tightening the grounding nut on the front control panel against a #12 AWG stranded copper wire connected to a grounding rod.
  • Inspect the 5V USB and 12V DC ports for debris or moisture.

If problems persist: This could indicate an internal fault with the inverter board. Stop use and call WEN customer service at 800-232-1195 M-F 8-5 CST.
