DIAGNOSIS: The primary locking lever and the secondary safety latch are not properly engaging, allowing play in the stem joint.
FIX: 1. Fold the stem to the riding position. 2. Ensure the main silver locking lever is pushed completely down and latched. You should hear a solid click. 3. Engage the secondary red safety latch by sliding it firmly into the groove on the locking lever. 4. Locate the tension adjustment bolt on the side of the folding hinge. Using the provided hex key, turn it clockwise in small increments (1/8 turns) until the wobble is eliminated, but the lever can still be operated without excessive force.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The internal wear components (nylon bushings or the locking pin) within the hinge mechanism may be worn and require replacement.
HEADS UP: Check for stem wobble before every ride. A loose stem is a critical safety failure point that can lead to a catastrophic collapse while riding.
