The LEDs are sensitive to voltage spikes; if the vacuum experienced a momentary surge or if moisture entered the nozzle during the cleaning of a damp area, the circuit board protecting the LEDs can short out. You can confirm if the issue is wiring or the board by checking the 'Brush Roll' status: since the headlights are tied to the brush roll power circuit, if the brush roll is spinning but the lights are dark, the failure is isolated to the LED strip or the specific lead wires connecting the strip to the main harness.
How to Fix It

If That Didn't Work

You will need to replace the complete lower nozzle housing (Part #5044-0001). This involves removing the screws securing the nozzle to the chassis and swapping the wiring harness.
- Check the Main Control Board: If you have replaced the nozzle and the lights still don't work, the issue lies in the main PCB (Printed Circuit Board) inside the handle/motor housing. Look for a burnt capacitor or a cold solder joint on the output terminal that feeds the brush roll and light circuit.
- Inspect the Power Cord: While rare, a partial break in the main power cord can cause "brown-out" conditions where the high-draw motor works, but the low-voltage LED circuit fails. Check for kinks or flat spots in the cord.
- Verify the Swivel Pivot: If the lights flicker when you turn the nozzle left or right, the wire inside the swivel joint is partially severed. This requires a full nozzle replacement as the internal swivel wiring cannot be spliced.

- Avoid using the vacuum on wet surfaces; water ingress into the nozzle is the leading cause of LED board corrosion and failure.
- Regularly clear the brush roll of long hairs; a jammed brush roll can cause the motor to overheat, which occasionally triggers a thermal cutout that kills power to the lights first.
- When replacing the nozzle assembly, ensure the wiring harness is seated deeply in the clip; a loose connection here will lead to intermittent lighting and potential sparking.
