Diagnosis
The ice size is controlled by a timing circuit. Tiny ice means the harvest cycle (where the cubes are released) is triggering too early, before the cubes fully form. This is usually a temperature or scaling issue.
How to Fix It
The most common fix is a thorough descaling. Mineral scale on the evaporator plate acts as an insulator, so the sensor thinks the ice is frozen faster than it is. Descale using the vinegar method. After descaling, ensure the unit is in a room-temperature environment (70-80°F is ideal) for its next few cycles.
If That Didn't Work
The ambient temperature might be too cold. Ironically, if the room is below 50°F, the machine can misread its own cycle times. Move it to a warmer location. Also, ensure the unit is on a level surface; being tilted can affect water distribution.
Heads Up
Don't confuse the 'Size' button function—it only switches between two preset cycles. If tiny ice persists after trying both settings, it's a performance issue, not a setting.
