DIAGNOSIS This is a known interference issue. The infrared (IR) signal from the remote is being blocked or competing with other IR sources (like LED lights, TVs) or the sensor on the unit is in a poor location.
FIX Rule out interference and improve line-of-sight.
- First, replace the remote batteries with fresh ones (CR2025). Weak batteries have inconsistent range.
- When operating, point the remote directly at the control panel on the top-front of the unit, not at the vents or sides.
- Turn off or shield nearby sources of bright LED lighting, which can flood the IR sensor with noise.
- Reduce the distance. The remote has a relatively short effective range.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The IR receiver window on the unit might be dusty. Wipe the small, dark plastic panel on the control area with a dry cloth. As a last resort, you can use buttons on the unit's control panel, which are always reliable.
HEADS UP The unit has a "remote lock" feature (hold the "Lock" button on the remote). If activated, the panel buttons are disabled. Press and hold the Lock button again to unlock it if you accidentally enabled it.
