the safety valve on my barton pressure cooker is blasting out a ton of steam. what do i do?

— asked by Sam

Turn the heat off immediately. The safety valve activates at 110-160 KPa, indicating the vent pipe is blocked. Let the cooker cool completely. Then, open the block-proof cover and inspect the vent pipe for obstructions. Clear any blockage. Do not use the cooker until the vent path is clear.
