Because the device is now prioritizing a local override, it ignores the cloud-based schedule pushed from the app, creating a discrepancy where the app shows the "planned" temperature while the wall unit maintains the "held" temperature. Another common cause is a "Cloud Sync Lag" or a corrupted local cache on the device. This happens when the thermostat loses its handshake with the Sensi servers during a schedule update. If the device fails to acknowledge the new set-points sent via the WiFi module, it will continue to run the last successfully downloaded schedule, even if the app interface indicates a change has been made. You can confirm this by checking the home screen of the ST75; if you see the word "Hold" or a lock icon next to the temperature, the device is intentionally ignoring your app's schedule.
How to Fix It
To force the thermostat to align with your app's programming and clear any local overrides, follow these precise steps:
- Walk to the ST75 wall unit and tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom corner of the touch screen.
- Navigate to the Schedule submenu.
- Locate the Hold Settings option. If it is currently set to "Permanent Hold," the device will never return to the app's schedule.
- Select Run Schedule (or "Follow Schedule" depending on your firmware version). This immediately terminates any manual overrides and forces the device to look for the next scheduled time block.
- Open the Sensi app on your mobile device. On the main dashboard for the ST75, perform a "pull-to-refresh" by swiping down on the screen to force a synchronization heartbeat between the server and the hardware.
- Verify that the "Current Temperature" and "Set Temperature" on the wall unit now match the current time block displayed in the app's schedule grid.
If That Didn't Work
- Perform a Hard Power Cycle: Remove the ST75 faceplate from the wall bracket. This disconnects the unit from the 24V C-wire power source. Wait exactly 30 seconds to allow the internal capacitors to discharge fully, then snap the unit back onto the wall. This forces a full reboot and a fresh reconnection to the WiFi AP, which often triggers a schedule download.
- Reset the WiFi Connection: Go to Menu > Wi-Fi > Forget Network on the thermostat. Then, use the Sensi app to re-provision the device. This clears any "ghost" connections where the app thinks the device is online, but the device is not receiving data packets.
- Verify Time Zone Alignment: In the Sensi app, go to Device Settings and ensure the zip code and time zone are exactly correct. If the app is set to Eastern Time but the device is defaulting to Pacific Time due to a server error, the schedules will be offset by several hours, making them appear "out of sync."
- Clear App Cache: If you are using an Android device, go to Settings > Apps > Sensi > Storage and select "Clear Cache." For iOS, delete the Sensi app entirely and reinstall it from the App Store. This removes corrupted local data that may be displaying an outdated schedule version.

- Temporary vs. Permanent Holds: Be aware that a "Temporary Hold" will only last until the next scheduled temperature change. A "Permanent Hold" will stay indefinitely until you manually select "Run Schedule."
- C-Wire Stability: If your ST75 frequently loses sync, check that your C-wire is providing a steady 24VAC. Intermittent power drops can cause the WiFi chip to reset, leading to schedule drift.
- Avoid Rapid Changes: Avoid making 10+ schedule changes in the app within a few minutes. The ST75 processes updates in batches; rapid-fire changes can cause the device to hang or ignore the most recent command.
- Firmware Updates: Always keep the device updated. Sensi pushes firmware updates automatically, but a power cycle (removing the faceplate) is often required to finalize the installation of these updates.
