Diagnosis
Correct. The SloRoller is a specialized convection tool, not a standard heat deflector. It is designed to cap maximum temperature and create a specific airflow pattern, which often results in a lower, more finicky fire.
How to Fix It
For standard indirect cooking (e.g., ribs, pork shoulder), remove the SloRoller. Use the standard half-moon cast iron heat deflector plates placed on the Divide & Conquer system at the highest position. This provides more consistent, easier-to-control radiant heat. The SloRoller should only be used when its specific convective vortex is the explicit goal.
If That Didn't Work
If using deflector plates and still having low temps, return to the primary fuel/airflow checklist. Insufficient charcoal, wet charcoal, or blocked bottom vent are the root causes.
Heads Up
Never place the SloRoller directly on the firebox. It must always be installed on the Divide & Conquer system's lower tier. Direct contact with the firebox will cause it to warp and crack.
