the water level in my berkey upper chamber isn't going down even after a day, seems completely clogged, what do i do?

DIAGNOSIS Total flow stoppage is a severe airlock or, less commonly, filter clogging from excessive sediment in the source water.

FIX Step 1: Disassemble the system. Step 2: Re-prime the filters using the complete submersion and shaking method until no bubbles emerge. Step 3: While filters are still submerged, reinstall them into the empty upper chamber. Step 4: Immediately fill the upper chamber with water. This prevents air re-entering the core.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If you have very sediment-heavy source water, the filter's pores may be superficially blocked. Scrub the filter exteriors clean under running water with a non-metallic scrub pad.

HEADS UP Do not attempt to force water through by pressurizing the chamber. This can damage the filter housing. Proper priming is a wet process.
