trying to use the milk frother on my k-cafe and it just makes a weak gurgling noise, barely any foam.

— asked by Jamie

DIAGNOSIS The whisk inside the frother is either missing, incorrectly installed, or caked with old milk residue, preventing it from spinning properly.

FIX

  • Unplug the frother base and remove the frother lid and carafe.
  • Look at the bottom of the carafe. The small, clear plastic whisk should be clipped in place.
  • If it's there, remove it. Clean both the whisk and the inside of the carafe thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Old milk proteins are the enemy of foam.
  • Re-insert the whisk, ensuring it snaps securely onto the center post.
  • Use COLD milk (whole or 2% works best) and fill only to the appropriate 'latte' or 'cappuccino' line—overfilling guarantees poor results.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The magnetic drive in the base might be weak. Ensure the carafe is seated perfectly straight and turned to the 'Lock' position. Try a different type of colder milk.

HEADS UP Never run the frother without liquid. Always clean the whisk and carafe immediately after use—soaking it is the easiest way to prevent buildup.
