DIAGNOSIS The used K-Cup pod was not fully ejected into the spent pod holder. It's stuck in the brew chamber, and opening the handle dislodges it messily.
FIX
- Lift the handle fully and remove the spent pod holder (the basket at the front). Empty it.
- Look up into the brew chamber. If a spent pod is stuck, use your fingers or a spoon to carefully remove it.
- Inspect the small, hinged door inside the brew chamber that pushes the pod out. Ensure it moves freely and isn't obstructed by a ground.
- Run a water-only brew cycle with the pod holder removed to flush the chamber.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The ejection mechanism may be weakened. Before brewing, tap the spent pod holder firmly to ensure it's fully seated. After brewing, wait 10 seconds before lifting the handle to allow the internal mechanism to complete its cycle.
HEADS UP This often happens with lighter-weight or reusable pods that don't have the standard rigidity. For reusable pods, make sure they are dry and empty before inserting them.
