what's the pulse function for on the kitchenaid k400 blender? just seems like a start button.

— asked by Riley

It's for controlled, short bursts of power, not continuous blending.

DIAGNOSIS: Using it like a start button won't give you the control it's designed for.

FIX: Here's how to use Pulse mode correctly:

  1. Make sure your ingredients are in the jar and the lid is secure.
  2. Press the Pulse button.
  3. While holding the Pulse button, turn and hold the Control Dial from (O) to (P). The blender will run only as long as you hold the dial there.
  4. Release the dial to stop the blending instantly.
This is perfect for chopping, breaking up frozen chunks, or just blending something very briefly.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the blender isn't responding at all in Pulse mode, ensure the jar is aligned with the handle facing the control dial and that you're plugging into a proper outlet.

HEADS UP: Using Pulse first on chunky items prevents wear on the blender's internal coupler.
