blink outdoor 4 battery drains in like a week even with minimal motion, says it's supposed to last two years

— asked by Taylor

DIAGNOSIS Rapid battery drain is almost always due to excessive activity triggers or a weak Wi-Fi signal. The camera expends significant power uploading video clips and reconnecting to a poor network.

FIX Check two settings. First, lower the Retrigger Time in the Motion Settings for that camera. Set it to at least 30 seconds. Second, adjust the Motion Sensitivity. Start at 5. Use Activity Zones to block areas with constant non-essential movement like a busy street.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Test the Wi-Fi signal strength at the camera's location. In the Blink app, go to the camera settings > Device Status > Signal Strength. If it shows Poor, relocate the sync module. Ensure no major obstructions are between the sync module and camera.

HEADS UP Using non-Blink branded lithium batteries can cause inaccurate battery level reporting and reduced performance. The system is optimized for the included Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries.
